Sleep Apnea Refurbishment Program

Sleep apnea is a condition that causes breathing to stop repeatedly during sleep. It can lead to serious health issues like heart arrhythmia, stroke, diabetes, and depression, while also causing extreme fatigue that increases the risk of motor vehicle accidents.

Over 45,000 Nova Scotians and Islanders live with sleep apnea, and many cannot afford treatment, which can cost thousands of dollars.

LungNSPEI’s Sleep Apnea Refurbishment Program collects gently used CPAP and BiPAP machines. With support from volunteers, Lions Clubs, and the Dalhousie University School of Health Sciences, these machines are refurbished and provided at no cost to Nova Scotians and Islanders who cannot afford therapy.
