Community Advised Smoking Cessation Project
Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in Canada. Smoking can cause cancer, heart disease, diabetes and lung disease.

LungNSPEI, in collaboration with community partners, want to better help individuals to quit smoking or reduce their use.

The ‘Community Advised Smoking Cessation’ project invites people aged 16 and older from the following communities within Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island to share their opinions:

-
2SLGBTQIA+
-
First Nations
-
Lower Income (i.e., annual household income of <$40,000)

Smoking rates can be two or more times higher in the above communities than in many other Canadian communities.

Through this project, members of the 2SLGBTQIA+, First Nations, or lower-income communities can participate in a survey or focus groups/sharing circles to voice their opinion on what their communities need to help people quit smoking.
