Nova Scotia
Radon Reduction Grant Program

MITIGATION ASSISTANCE

The Radon Mitigation Fund supports Nova Scotians with the cost of remediating their homes (up to $2,500) from radon gas levels above Health Canada guidelines, to protect the lung health of Nova Scotian families who otherwise would not be able to afford to remediate.

Applicants need to currently reside in Nova Scotia and must submit the following documents to be eligible for financial support (up to $2,500):

  • Long-term radon test results (from a C-NRPP certified detector) indicating remediation is needed (above 200 Bq/m3).

  • Latest Notice of Assessment (CRA document) indicating an annual household income of less than $80,000 (if two people are on the home title, both have to submit Notice of Assessment).

  • Secure quotes from at least two C-NRPP-certified mitigation companies and upload photos of these quotes with the following application.

  • You must own the home being mitigated.

Once an application is approved, the grant money will be provided directly to the homeowner's preferred C-NRPP-certified mitigation contractor. The homeowner must arrange to pay any additional outstanding balance beyond the granted amount.

*Applications will only be processed if ALL information is filled out and the required documentation has been uploaded.
